Harmony Day
Introduction
Harmony day is an event created by DIAC ( The Department of Immigration and Citizenship in Australia). All Australian celebrate this day on 21 March every year together with the United Nation's International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination
In this day Australian intended to celebrate the cohesive and inclusive nature of Australia and promete a tolerant and culturally diverse society.
The Hisrory
Australian began to celebrate this event in 1999 by sharing morning teas,others organise a fair and some celebrate by dressing in national costumes.
Since that day they have celebrated thousands of events in different places. In addition to, they organised a wide variety of groups like sports, community, local government, churches, schools and businesses organisations.
Recently
In 2012, the theme for Harmony Day is "sport: play, Engage, Inspire" to tell people about the important role of sport and its postive effect in Australia. They have used the Orange colour to represent this year Harmony Day. As well as the message was that "Everyone Belongs"
The Aim of Harmony Day 2012 is to encourage everyone,regardless of background, increase understanding others and inspired or to inspire others

CLean up Australia Day
It was a great effort done by Lan Kiernan the founder of this big event and his co-founder Kim McKay. Lan Kiernan an environmentlist who create this day by making it not for profit project.
He founded it in 1989 in order to foster the relationship between community ,business and government.
As soon as he began this project many subdivisions have created to take part in cleaning up Australia. All were very happy to participate in it from diffrent fields. About 2500 schools take part in addition to Commenwealth bank and McDonald's as well as many big companies
This year it will be in Sunday,4 March 2012. They will clean up streets from cigarette butts, plastic bottle caps, and all household wastes.
All participantes will work like bee by wearing gloves and boots and don hats and going to streets for the country biggest working bee.
In Bankstown, my city the Mayor Cir Khal Asfour will share this day with young children and meet at Bankstown City Council, they hope all Bankstown resident encouraged to take part in it.
